Installing Mosfet Liquid in RedHat 8.0

Update: RedHat 8 is crap! I've switched to Mandrake, click here.

Note, work in progress... not working yet...
Note, these are rough notes as I install, I'm going to come back later and clean them up, in the mean time, maybe this will help someone.

Using this news group thread as a base.

First, I unzipped the archive file:
$ gunzip mosfet-liquid0.9.5.tar.gz

Next, I su'd root and moved the file to /usr/src (trying to get in this habit).
# mv mosfet-liquid0.9.5.tar /usr/src

Next, untar the archive:
# tar -xvf mosfet-liquid0.9.5.tar

Then we cd to the directory, and run configure with a different prefix (since RedHat apparently doesn't believe in standards).
# cd mosfet-liquid0.9.5
# ./configure --prefix=/usr
# make
# make install

Please note, it's generally considered bad form to run ./configure and make as root, but I'm lazy. :)

With any luck, the Mosfet high-performance Liquid style engine will now show up in the KDE Control Center.

Mosfet liquid theme can be gotten from here.
