Mandrake 9.0, upgrade to KDE 3.1Well, I got fed-up with RedHat 8.I have to admit that BlueCurve is nice, but I just don't like how they hacked up KDE and X11. Some of their new administrator tools are kind of nice, but I had many problems getting it to all work with my employers Compaq Evo N610c (which is a pain with linux compared to other laptops I've owned, a story for another day.) So, after using RedHat exclusively for 4 years, I've decided to try Mandrake 9.0 on the new laptop. It installed (failry) flawlessly and even detected, and (almost) properly configured my Orinoco wireless NIC, which RedHat 8 failed to do (RedHat 7.3 and prior detected and configured it all okay in the past on different laptops). The only thing I had to do was add an "s:" in front of the security key in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1. No biggie. And now the real reason we're here...
Installation/Upgrade to KDE 3.1:
As a side note, KDE 3.1 implements a lot of the neat features that are in Mosfet's Liquid theme, so you may want to check out some of those as well. Created by swannie on 2003-02-18 08:59:46, modified by swannie on 2003-02-19 16:41:06.
